IVAN CERVANTES, A THREE-TIME WORLD CHAMPION WILL BE HEAD-COACH OF SPAIN IN VIÑA
Everyone on the moto off road world knows who Iván “Torito” Cervantes is, 4 times winner of the Enduro´s World Championship and a sure protagonist on the next ISDE, that will take place in Viña del Mar, Chile.
The ex-pilot (who achieved many triumphs on KTM and Gas Gas) never let his biggest passion in life go by, that is why he will be on the next Dakar’s starting line January 6th in Lima.
Interviewed in Spain by journalist Carlos Larreta during the launch of his Team Himoinsa, he commented on his arrival at the front of the Spanish enduro team:
“ The new president of Spanish motociclism, Manuel Casado, got in touch with me. He told me that he wanted to make some changes in our enduro and offered me a place as head coach of several disciplines. I suggested him to focus on Enduro, because it is the discipline where I can really add value to the team. There is a lot to do, and I am not only talking about the learning job we can do with pilots, we can also improve the quality of the events we have on the Spanish Championship, for example”
-But I guess is going to be hard to manage your life as a pilot and all this activities with the Spanish Federation…
“I am afraid yes. My contract with Himoinsa finishes after this Dakar and moreover I think it is going to be almost impossible to compete and fulfill the obligations required for the job I accepted for the federation, all at the same time”
